When you are not completely sure what the problem is

Among other things, we launched our Danica Health Package, giving our customers easy access to online health experts such as doctors, psychologists and dieticians. The popularity of these options peaked in 2022, when our customers consulted our online health experts on 24,000 occasions, which is a 69% increase from 2021.

Camilla Thind Sunesen, Head of Concepts and Health Development, explains:
“Our online health experts have been well received by our customers, achieving a satisfaction score of 96% in 2022. But the most important thing for me is actually that we managed to help thousands of customers who indicated that they would otherwise not have sought treatment. Facilitating early treatment has prevented more serious illness, which would otherwise have required more intensive treatment,” and she continues:

“For example, this means that we have managed to provide early treatment to men who would perhaps otherwise not have gone to the doctor or psychologist in time. It demonstrates that the key to the success of the Health Package is to make the solutions easily accessible to our customers, giving them the opportunity to get treatment at a time that is convenient for them.”

When early treatment is not enough

Even though more customers are given access to early treatment, there are still a lot of customers who have to report a claim and start a dedicated treatment regimen. Our ongoing development efforts are aimed at ensuring that our offerings have the right ‘width and depth’.
“In 2022, our customers received 60% more treatments per reported claim than they did three years ago. This is a testament to our current strategy of restoring our customers’ health. It means that sometimes we choose to send a customer with an aching back to a psychologist to determine if the back pain also requires some degree of mental healthcare treatment,” says Thomas Skrostrup, Head of Health and Care at Danica Pension.
It may sound very simple, but in practice it’s been hard for our health experts to change their mindset so that, for example, a physiotherapist also considers whether mental healthcare treatment should be included in a specific customer’s treatment.

When you lose something fundamental in your life

At Danica Pension, we are happy to offer more treatment options to our customers, and we are making a special effort to prevent customers from losing their earning capacity, which is the most severe stage in our health insurance business. If a customer reaches a stage where they can no longer work at full capacity, the road back to work is often a long one. Therefore, we are proud to announce that in 2022, we saw a 20% reduction in new loss of earning capacity claims compared in relation to four years ago when we changed our approach.
“The fact that we received fewer loss of earning capacity claims in 2022 is proof that you get the right treatment in all phases of our health solutions at Danica Pension. But should you be unfortunate enough to need your loss of earning capacity insurance, we work hard to get you back to work as fit as possible. We believe that people thrive when they can work, and the availability of skilled and qualified employees is also important to our business customers,” concludes Thomas Skrostrup.
