Investment restrictions

We do not invest in just anything.

As part of our sustainable investment approach, we have defined a number of restrictions against investing in certain companies and countries. The restrictions apply to the entire investment universe.

  • Coal and tar sand

    Coal and tar sand

Coal and tar sand are some of the most carbon-emitting energy sources, and as part of the Danske Bank Group, Danica Pension has signed the Paris Pledge For Action. This supports our ambition to contribute to the green transition and the climate goals of the Paris Agreement and to limit global warming. Against this background, we do not invest in companies generating 30% or more of their revenue from thermal coal or tar sand. By engaging in dialogue, we also support companies in transforming their business towards relying more on green energy sources.

Restrictions are based on the Danske Bank Group’s Position Statement on climate changes, which you can read here.

  • Controversial weapons

    Controversial weapons

We do not invest in companies, which, directly or indirectly, are involved with controversial weapons. This includes weapons that are illegal under international legislation or are considered controversial due to the random and proportionate damage caused by these. This includes cluster munitions, anti-personnel mines, biological and chemical weapons as well as nuclear weapons.

Restrictions are based on the Danske Bank Group’s Position Statement on arms and defence, which you can read here.

  • Tobacco

    Tobacco

We do not invest in companies if 5% or more of their revenue is generated from the growing, processing or production of tobacco products. This includes both products that are wholly or partially based on leaf tobacco as well as so-called next generation tobacco products, such as e-cigarettes and snuff.

The decision to implement investment restrictions on tobacco is based on Danica Pension’s focus on providing pension savings that are both attractive and comply with customer needs.

We may decide to implement restrictions on matters concerning norms and ethics, for example, or if corporate dialogue or voting does not lead to positive changes.
