Walk yourself happy and healthy

Are you not into running or endurance training, or do you find it difficult to fit exercise into your everyday life? Then we have good news for you. Walking can make you lose weight, get you into shape and lift your mood.

It may not seem like much, but walking does in fact have many health benefits and advantages. It is easy and costs nothing, you burn calories and boost your brain.

The combination of fresh air, light and moving your body lifts your mood, boosts your mental well-being, improves your sleep and your memory and strengthens your learning capacity and creativity.

  • Walk yourself slim. If you start walking for an hour each day, you will lose five to ten kilos in six months, other things being equal.
  • Walk for 30 minutes a day and reduce the risk of 35 illnesses, including cancer, dementia and heart disease.
  • Walking is a powerful remedy for insomnia, depression, stress and anxiety – in some cases you can walk yourself completely well.

Three tips to get you started:

Download one of our 30-minute walk programmes on your smartphone and be guided by fitness expert Birgitte Nymann to walk at varying speeds throughout your walk.

Fix a time of day that suits you, for example before you start your day, when you finish work or when your meetings for the day are over.

If it motivates you, use a fitness tracker, which you can find on your smartphone, for example.
